About your imaging order
Dr. Fellows has ordered imaging to help evaluate your condition. We have sent your order to Imaging Healthcare Specialists (IHS), our preferred imaging partner. IHS provides high-quality imaging services with experienced radiologists and an efficient scheduling process.
What happens next
- Within 24 hours — IHS will typically contact you by email, text message, or phone to schedule your appointment
- If contacted electronically — you can select your appointment time through their online system, which lets you pick a time that works best for your schedule
- On appointment day — arrive at your scheduled time and check in using your mobile device when you arrive
If you don’t hear from IHS
- For X-rays or Medicare patients — if you haven’t been contacted within 3 business days, call IHS directly
- For advanced imaging with commercial insurance (MRI, CT, ultrasound, etc.) — allow up to 7 business days for insurance authorization before calling. Your insurance company may need to approve the study first.
IHS phone number: (858) 658-6500
If you have difficulty scheduling after contacting IHS, message our office through the patient portal or call us at (760) 891-4687.
What to expect at your appointment
- Bring your photo ID and insurance card
- Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time
- Wear comfortable clothing without metal elements (especially important for MRIs — avoid metal zippers, buttons, or underwire)
- Follow any specific preparation instructions given by IHS when you scheduled
- Most imaging procedures are quick and painless
After your imaging
Your images will be reviewed by a radiologist, and the report will be sent to our office. Here’s what to expect:
- Urgent or critical findings — we will contact you right away
- Routine findings — these will be discussed at your next appointment
- If your next appointment is more than a few weeks away and your results are routine, we’ll call you
If you have concerns about your results before your next appointment, call our office.
