About your imaging order
Dr. Fellows has ordered an imaging test or procedure and sent the order to Scripps Clinic’s Ancillary Scheduling department. This department coordinates all imaging appointments for patients referred from outside medical offices.
Important: wait before calling
Please wait 3 business days from the date you received this handout before calling to schedule. This allows time for your order to be processed in their system.
How to schedule your appointment
After the 3-business-day processing window:
- Call Scripps Ancillary Scheduling at (858) 554-7844
- Have your personal information ready — name, date of birth, insurance details
- Let them know which imaging test Dr. Fellows ordered
- The scheduler will find an appointment at the Scripps location closest to you
- Write down your appointment details (date, time, location)
Preparing for your imaging
Different imaging tests require different preparations. When you schedule, the Scripps scheduler will:
- Provide specific preparation instructions for your test
- Tell you if you need to avoid eating or drinking beforehand
- Explain if you need to arrive early to complete paperwork
- Let you know how long the procedure typically takes
Take notes during the call, or ask them to email you the instructions.
If you have trouble scheduling
The scheduling process can sometimes be challenging. If you run into issues:
- Ask them to check both fax systems for your order — Scripps maintains two separate fax numbers, and orders occasionally go to one but not the other
- If you still can’t get scheduled, call our office at (760) 891-4687 and we’ll help sort it out
Day of your appointment
- Arrive 15 minutes early, or as Scripps specifically instructs (may vary by test)
- Bring your photo ID and insurance card
- Wear comfortable clothing — avoid metal zippers or buttons, especially for MRIs
- Follow any preparation instructions you were given when scheduling
- Let the imaging staff know if you have any concerns or questions
After your imaging
Your images will be reviewed by a radiologist, and the report will be sent to our office. Here’s what to expect:
- Urgent or critical findings — we will contact you right away
- Routine findings — we’ll call you if your next appointment is more than a few weeks away; otherwise, we’ll discuss the results at your visit
If you have concerns before your next appointment, call our office at (760) 891-4687.
